05/17/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Adam Scott was a staple in the world top-10 before a balky putting stroke corrupted his game and knocked the talented Australian from his perch as perhaps the best player under 30 years old.
What, you thought it was Kate Hudson?
"I was really struggling with my putting and that was kind of bleeding into the rest of my game. It was bringing the rest of the game down," Scott said.
A chance meeting with former U.S. Ryder Cup captain Dave Stockton two weeks ago at the Quail Hollow Championship helped Scott figure things out.
He had a quick Friday afternoon lesson with Stockton, who also helped Phil Mickelson tweak his putting stroke before Lefty won last year's Tour Championship.
"He said he could fix me in 15 minutes," Scott said, "and he was right."
The lesson lasted more like 30 minutes, actually, and Stockton helped Scott adjust his left wrist through the putting stroke. He got him thinking more about the hole than what was happening directly beneath him.
Scott missed the cut at Quail Hollow, shooting rounds of 78 and 73, but he felt comfortable with the new putting stroke a week later at Sawgrass for the Players Championship, where he tied for 26th.
And he was downright confident over the weekend on his way to winning the Texas Open for his first PGA Tour victory in 25 months.
Scott didn't take more than 29 putts in any round during the rain-delayed tournament. The field played 36 holes in a marathon Sunday finish and Scott shot rounds of 66 and 67 to beat Fredrik Jacobson by a shot at 14-under 274.
The putting total for his final two rounds: 53 strokes, including just 25 in the final round. Scott ranked 15th in putting for the week.
"Finally I got in the rhythm with it and they all started going in," he said.
It was Scott's seventh victory on the PGA Tour, but first since he defeated Ryan Moore in a playoff at the 2008 Byron Nelson Championship. The win vaulted him seven places in the world rankings to No. 36. He would have climbed even higher if the Texas Open was a better field.
"It feels great to win any event anywhere, but to win on the PGA Tour again is a big step," said Scott, who is 29.
His comeback began with a symbolic gesture eight months ago when fellow Aussie Greg Norman selected Scott as a captain's pick for the Presidents Cup. Norman surprised everyone by adding the slumping Scott to the International team.
Scott was coming off one of his worst seasons on the PGA Tour, having missed 10 cuts in 19 starts, including six in a row during one stretch. But the Presidents Cup selection was just the pick-me-up boost of confidence he needed to get going.
Norman was also instrumental, in a unique way, to Scott's victory on Sunday.
The course where Scott won -- the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio -- was designed by the World Golf Hall of Famer.
"He's glad I like the course," said Scott, who received a message from Norman after the round.
Norman's vote of confidence got Scott headed back in the right direction mentally, and Scott went on to win the Australian Open in December for a key victory on his home turf. But it was a brief lesson from Stockton that solved his biggest problem.
"I feel really good out there on the greens," said Scott, "and the game is a lot more fun when you're making putts."
And winning, of course.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.
